Volunteering with MBVS

As an organisation fully run by volunteers, our volunteers are our most important asset.

The majority of our volunteers participate by helping multiple birth families with hands-on help in their home, across metropolitan Melbourne. This includes helping parents with tasks such as feeding babies, changing nappies, helping settle or comfort babies, playing with older siblings, and other general tasks as needed. Volunteers generally commit to a 3-4 hour session per week, but this may vary depending on the needs of the family and the volunteer. We find our families are generally looking for support during the week, so if you work full-time then unfortunately this may not be the right volunteering opportunity for you.

Our volunteers are required to attend one of our induction workshops, hold a current Working with Children Check card, and have up-to-date vaccinations for measles and whooping cough.

If you love babies and would like to help a local family in their home please complete our application form and we will be in touch soon!
