What doctors and maternal and child health nurses say about our program
- “The program has grown and gone from strength to strength. It is now an essential part of the support for families with higher order multiple pregnancies. I cannot imagine how some of my families would have coped without the support provided by MBVS.”
- – Associate Professor Mark Umstad, Clinical Director of Maternity Services, the Royal Women’s Hospital
- “Over the past eighteen months, several Boroondara families with multiple births have received support and assistance with care of their young babies through the Multiple Birth Volunteer Support Program.
The volunteers have assisted with feeding and care of newborns and have helped with the daily routines of other siblings. This has been hugely beneficial to the health and well-being of all family members. It has provided the opportunity for parents to take a short break with the knowledge that their babies are being well cared for. This has allowed parents to catch up on broken sleep, eat a well prepared balanced diet and have one on one time with children and also have independent time.” - – Janet Shortal, City of Boroondara, Maternal and Child Health Coordinator
What our volunteers say about our program
- “Having three babies all at once is quite a shock. The MBVS program helps the mother along and gives some relief and hope. Volunteers can be flexible to what the family wants.”
- – Margaret, Volunteer
